NEC Launches LaVie Touch Tablet with DVD Dock

NEC Launches LaVie Touch Tablet with DVD Dock

NEC has finally introduced its LaVie Touch tablet, which was scheduled for launch in September under the name VersaPro type VT.
Running Windows 7, the tablet has already hit the Japanese market, being sold by Yodobashi Camera. However, there's currently no information on the international release of the device.
Featuring a 10.1-inch screen, with its heart being the Atom Z670 processor, the tablet was for the first time unveiled at CEATEC where it was connected to a DVD dock and wireless input peripherals. The entire package wore a price tag of ¥99,960 ($1,300). This figure is considerably lower than the one mentioned before the launch - ¥144,000 ($1,873).
The price can still be a point of argument, especially considering similar products offered by Acer and Samsung. But NEC managed to keep its device's weight under 730g (1.6 pounds) and equipping it with a powerful battery able to hold 10.6 hours before it needs to be recharged.
With such features the tablet can be rather competitive with Acer's Iconia W500 that weighs 970g (2.14 pounds) and a battery life of 6 hours and other gadgets from the same category.
